OIL PALM PLANTATION PROCESS

A lot of maintenance and cultural practices are needed before oil palm gets to maturity. It takes about 3yrs before an oil palm tree gets to maturity.
Oil palm spends 6-7months in the nursery before it is transferred to the field. It needs a lot of phosphorous during growth.
About 150 seedlings occupy an ha of farm land.

  • Bush clearing and slashing
  • Stumping and packing of tree stalks
  • Ploughing
  • Soil leveling
PLANTING PROCESS

  • Take a base line of 4.5m then follow by
  • Spacing 9x9m triangle or
  • 8.7x8.7m triangle spacing after ploughing and harrowing depending on the land topography
